Located in the heart of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, the Mound Bayou Museum of African American Culture and History preserves and interprets the story of a Black community built with vision, labor, leadership, and purpose.
Inside the Museum
The museum introduces visitors to the founding and development of Mound Bayou, a historic Black town established in the Mississippi Delta after emancipation. Its story offers a closer look at what Black community life and institution-building made possible.
